Wiki:Community Engagement Space/Guidelines
What this space is for
This space brings together everyone who contributes to the Law & Justice Wiki. We're building a free knowledge repository on law and justice, and it works best when nobody has to do it alone.
Here you can:
- share what you're working on, what you've learned and anything others might find useful
- ask for help when you're stuck, and help others when you can
- meet and team up with contributors who care about the same areas of law
Please do all of this responsibly: be accurate, be kind, and remember that real people read every post.
Posting under your own name
- There's no separate sign-in. If you're logged in, you can read, post and reply straight away.
- Everything you post here is signed with your username and the date and time automatically. There's no anonymous posting.
- You can see everything you've posted on My activity.
Part A – Community engagement guidelines
Use the right space
General questions and introductions go to General Discussion. Topics about a particular branch of law or legal domain go to the matching thematic area. Events and programs are listed on Events & Programs. Problems with conduct go to an administrator.
Your own comments
- You can remove your own comments, and only your own: click Edit source, delete your comment, and save. If others have replied, replace your text with (comment removed by its author) and keep your signature so the replies still make sense.
- You can't change or delete other people's comments. Reply instead, or report it.
Links and privacy
- Links to wiki pages, sources and registration forms are welcome; advertising and repeated self-promotion are not.
- Never post anyone's phone number, address, private email or ID without their consent.
Part B – Code of conduct
Expected behaviour
- Be respectful and civil: disagree with ideas, not people.
- Assume good faith and help people fix mistakes.
- Be welcoming to newcomers and patient with people writing in a second language.
- Respect people's time and boundaries.
Not tolerated
- Harassment, hounding, intimidation or threats
- Personal attacks and name-calling
- Discrimination and hate speech, including on the basis of gender, caste, religion, language or disability
- Sexual harassment
- Doxxing (sharing someone's personal details, such as their home address, phone number or real identity, without their permission)
- Spam and promotion
- Trolling and disruption
- Impersonation and sockpuppetry
- Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern
How moderators respond
Administrators can hide a comment, revert it, warn the person, or block them temporarily. Severe violations can lead to immediate removal. Appeals are reviewed by a different administrator.
